8 years and one day after meeting Val, Charlotte was born. Longest pregnancy or what? :)
Joking aside Charlotte just turned 2 today. It’s the winter solstice and also her birthday so thinking about it one way the world just gets brighter when Charlotte has her Birthday :)
Start the day with pancakes you say? :)
It has been a kinda lazy day of presents / nice food and of course we played with some lego. Is she addicted to lego? no but she does like helping me out and playing with the pieces in her own way. She was driving the little truck around after it was finished as well.
She got to bake cookies with Val.
I ended up cooking her my favourite dinner ever. Chicken nuggets curry and rice all home made. I grew up having this meal every Saturday for as long as I can remember. I loved Saturdays and who knows maybe it’ll become a bit of a tradition now. We don’t have a deep fat fryer so they were done in oil and a bit of butter, while not quite the same as a deep fat fryer it was still really lovely and a complete blast from the past. I’ve probably not done that since well before my mother passed away.
Of course the main dish doesn’t look that amazing but trust me when I tell you it was out of this world. A blended curry really has a totally different flavour to a normal chunky curry.
Little people are now asleep and it’s time to relax with a movie and a beer …
I met my wife ten years ago today. Like many people who meet their wife for the first time they don’t really realise she’s going to be their wife. There have been good times, bad times, great times and it has all gone by just a little bit too quickly for my liking. They do however say time flies when you’re having fun and I’d like to think we’ve had a lot of fun.
We live together, we work together and we’re bringing up our daughter together and she is the most beautiful and wonderful person I’ve ever known(Val not my daughter :P though my daughter is pretty great too even if I do say so myself). I’d say I love you on here but that’s be weird cus I love her :)
ps: yeah even when being serious I have to be silly!
I ended up picking up the Lego City Advent Calendar this year. Why? cus I wanted to, also it was going rather cheap in SuperU compared to the online prices of various places. I’ve opened them with Charlotte most mornings though with being gone a week back to Ireland we may have opened a few more before I left.
I’ve avoided posting a daily picture of each item. Some have been better than others. Val would have preferred if they were all Christmas themed items. I’m happy they aren’t as there’s more potential for reuse and photo ops.
Today’s present is the above. Wonderfully simple items each made from 5 little bricks and I simply find them so cool. I’m also reminding of the below advert which is extremely clever and puts the 5 bricks to shame opting for 2 to do the same job.
It’s lego – unleash your imagination.
This seems slightly apt at the moment with all the talk about charities and where the money is going. I saw a tweet just now about door to door “chuggers” being able to earn up to €550 a week.
the practice of so-called ‘charity mugging’ a form of street fundraising
Ho Ho Ho … taking time out to share some of the Christmas cheer around here :)
I suspect my baggage on the way back to Nantes is going to be filled with these mince pies (well maybe not these specifically but .. ) and some jars of Mince Meat. Lemsips will be stocked up on as well … ( Found some Christmas tissues last night as well I had to buy they go nicely with the photo )
Anybody need me to bring back anything? :)
No time for a big blog post at the moment … just wanted to say we like the Pie.
It’s my first full day in the Blacknight office today and there were some mince pies in the kitchen along with some Vanilla / Hazelnut coffee …
Working with people has its advantages at times :D
I ended up putting up two small sets of lights today in the office and this evening they really came into their own. *sighs* I know … pink wall paper W T F … and many other comments can be made about the office … “C’est quoi ce bordel?” probably being one of them but … I’ll get there eventually … :)
I’m Irish .. I drink coffee by the bucket (though usually out of mugs) and I buy these donuts from my local bakery every time I have to drop Charlotte to the creche.
Today I’m thinking is going to be mostly fueled by coffee and sugar.
I’m starting the week fresh! … Freshly Knackered! :D
Did I mention I’m back in Ireland this week hence the lego minifig and me thinking of cheesy things the Irish would never actually say.
“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” – Nelson Mandela
Have you ever just been struck by a word and gone what the …
I just saw a work related email with the subject: Onboarding and what immediately pops into my mind? Waterboarding! Sorry onboarding is not a word I’m conscious of coming across in the past. Thankfully it’s Wikipedia to the rescue with:
Onboarding, also known as organizational socialization, refers to the mechanism through which new employees acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviors to become effective organizational members and insiders.
So yeah I guess it means to get on board with something but still it screams marketing talk to me, am I wrong does it get used a lot by people?
